Fall is here,
And I am really enjoying year two in Kansas City! The weather is absolutely gorgeous, and there are art fairs and events around every corner. It's been a busy couple of months, and I have a few exciting pieces of news for this letter!
After being an intern at Todd Weiner Gallery for several months now, I have been offered a paid position as gallery assistant. I have taken over a majority of the graphic design and web responsibilities, among other things. I am incredibly excited about this opportunity because it is a great team to be a part of and I have already learned so much!
Coming up in about a week here, we are showing Los Angeles based artist Donnie Molls. We had a desk built and repainted the entire gallery in preparation for this exhibition, including painting one wall black for an installation piece. Needless to say we are excited to have him.
All in all we have had some really great events going on lately, including an exhibition with the collection of the Command and General Staff College in ft. Leavenworth, KS. You can check out the gallery website or Facebook for more pictures!
Common Threads: Anatomy of the Wound
First Friday, November 4
Next month will be my first opportunity to show work on a First Friday. Studio Above is an amazing art studio & gallery run by artists Ada Koch, Nancy Clay, Jackie Warren, and William Rose. Every month they have a visiting artist who curates a small solo show in the front room of the space, and in November, I will be that artist! I could not be more excited to exhibit work alongside such great artists and friends.
One Night Stand, November 18
The Kansas City Artists Coalition is having their yearly members exhibition in November as well, so I will have a piece on display in one of their galleries. Last year this event was a blast and drew in hundreds of people, (not to mention some amazing desserts) and I'm sure this year will be even better.
Both of these events are free and open to the public, and there will be snacks and drinks served. Feel free to stop by if you are in town!
Until Next Time!
I have been working on three large paintings that are almost finished, so I should have several new pieces to show you by the next newsletter. I also have a few exhibition proposals I will be turning in between now and then, so cross your fingers!
I hope you had a great summer, and as always, thank you for taking the time to see what's going on in my world!
